The main aim of the Bereavement Team of Saint George’s is to offer spiritual and practical support to parishioners and their families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The team will endeavour to offer comfort and support to the bereaved with prayers and fellowship.
You can contact the Bereavement Team at anytime you need them, before you make contact with the funeral director if you need some support or after contact has been made and arrangements have started to be made. The team will be there to help and assist you in any way they can.

On the loss of a loved one the team offers immediate help with:
· Arrangements for the Funeral Mass or Service. The parish clergy and usually two team members will meet with close family to prepare the Order of Service, including Scripture readings and music.
· The team members will become points of contacts for the families and funeral director regarding any queries.
· If requested, a vigil at the chapel of rest or family home can be organised, with Priest or Deacon presiding or prayers led by team members.
· On the day of the funeral the Bereavement Team will provide a welcoming presence at the funeral. The team will also help with Scripture Readings or Reading of the Eulogy if requested by the family. The Bereavement Team can be easily identified by the wooden cross they will wear.
In the month of November, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for all parishioners whose funeral has been arranged from Saint George’s during the year. All families are invited to a social gathering afterwards.
A memorial list is displayed in Church and on the Prayers and Intercessions page, showing the names of parishioners who have died in the current month. To view the list please follow the link :
